Abstract:

One of the bellows producing method is hydroforming process .Whereas some factor of hydroforming process specially internal pressure affects on final characteristics produced bellows such as bursting, wrinkling and wall thickness distribution. In this paper the effect of internal pressure factor in final quality of produced bellows will be investigated. In simulation of process, ABAQUS/Explicit version 6.9 code was used, and also experimental examinations for investigation the effect of this factor has done. The results obtained from methods of analytical, finite element and experimental in this paper has good agreement with each other. Also, the conclusions of this research for prediction of suitable forming pressure could be used as a basis of designing a new type of metal bellows.

Investigation on the Ultrasonic Tube Hydroforming in the Bulging Process Using Finite Element Method

In ultrasonic tube hydroforming, the tube is hydro formed while the ultrasonic vibration is applied to the die. Prior studies provide experimental proof that ultrasonic tube hydroforming reduces corner radius, improves lubrication and uniform thickness. Use of ultrasonic vibration can decrease friction at the tube-die interface. Few attempts have been made to analyze the wire drawing while the ...

Fatigue behavior of Austenitic Type 316L Stainless Steel

The aim of this work is to determine the fatigue life of 316L stainless steel. The mechanisms of fatigue of 316L stainless steels were investigated and discussed. The fatigue tests were carried out at constant-amplitude cyclic loading with load ratio R=0.1. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is then used to examine the fracture surface. The results show that the fatigue limit of 316L stainless ...

Analytical and Finite Element Analysis of Hydroforming Deep Drawing Process

This paper gives an overview of a deep drawing process by pressurized liquid medium separated from the sheet by a rubber diaphragm. Hydroforming deep drawing processing of sheet metal parts provides a number of advantages over conventional techniques. It generally increases the depth to diameter ratio possible in cup drawing and minimizes the thickness variation of the drawn cup. To explore the...

A Comprehensive Study of the Hydroforming Process of Metallic Bellows: Investigation and Multi-objective Optimization of the Process Parameters

In this paper, for the first time, a comprehensive experimental study is performed on hydroforming process of metallic bellows. For this purpose, the effects of the main process parameters and their interactions on the characteristics of hydroformed metallic bellows are investigated using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The selected parameters as input variables are internal pressure, die s...
